EnergySolutions Foundation Scholarship



The EnergySolutions Foundation is a merit-based scholarship competition recognizing excellence in academics. The scholarship program is offered to one 10th grade student per high school in designated areas. Students who meet the criteria may apply for a scholarship. Students selected for the scholarship will receive $2,000 to complete a bachelor's degree program in the field of math, science, or engineering. The funds will be invested until the student enrolls in an accredited university or junior college. The pool of applicants will also be enrolled in a national distinguished award contest with the awards being a $25,000, $5,000, and $2,500 award. This money will also be invested until the students enroll in an accredited university or junior college. The distinguished award recipients will receive a laptop upon entering a bachelor's program.

Scholarship Criteria

The EnergySolutions Foundation places a great emphasis on determination to succeed. If you meet the following criteria, we urge you to apply for a scholarship.

Criteria for Application:
  • Confirmed enrollment in 10th grade at an accredited public high school in a selected area (all high schools in Utah) this academic year.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 (unless high school official can justify) on a 4.0 grading scale. Must maintain a 3.5 GPA while in high school.
  • Planning to enter a bachelor's degree program at a accredited university or junior college upon graduating from high school.
  • Planning to pursue a bachelor's degree program in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Ecology, Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Mathematics, Meteorology, or Physics.
  • Active participation and/or leadership in school, work and/or extracurricular activities.
Application Process

        October – January 31     Applications submitted to EnergySolutions Corporate Headquarters.
 
January 31 - February 10 Committee at EnergySolutions Corporate Headquarters will review all applications making sure they are complete and viable candidates.
 
February 11 Applications sent to selection committee members.
 
March 13 Selection committee will score applications and send back to the EnergySolutions Foundation.
 
April 1 The EnergySolutions Foundation will notify the scholarship recipients.
