Westminster

Shaping the physical campus into a learning tool. These exciting environmental teaching initiatives include energy efficient buildings with demonstration technologies, and resource conserving demonstration landscapes.
  • Storm Water Salvage Demonstration Project. Storm culverts from the dorm parking lot on the south side of Emigration Creek need to be buried and a velocity attenuation structure to prevent erosion needs to be designed and installed.

  • Interpretive Signage for Emigration Creek Natural Area. In order for students and visitors to campus to really appreciate the importance of the creek, we need a series signs which along the trail system to outline the natural history of the creek ecosystem.

  • Emigration Creek Bonneville Cutthroat Trout Project. Due to storm runoff flood pulsing of Emigration Creek, trout habitat has been severely compromised. This project would involve an in-depth study of the creek and its carrying capacity for native Bonneville Cutthroat trout re-introduction.

  • Naturescape/Xeriscape Garden. This demonstration garden would emphasize the Utah Choice educational marketing program for using drought-tolerant native species which have ornamental/horticultural value.
