Farmington Bay Learning Center Relocation

The EnergySolutions Environmental Foundation donated funds to the Great Salt Lake Interpretive Trust to relocate the Farmington Bay Learning Center from its' original construction site nearly a mile from the actual Bay. The Learning Center is ideally situated to afford unique educational opportunities to Utah school children. The Learning Center was designed and built by Utah high school students and provides opportunities for teachers to bring their classes to explore the Great Salt Lake at Farmington Bay.

The Learning Center needs to be moved out onto marsh where it can fulfill its educational potential. The center provides classrooms and wet labs where students can explore the varied uses of the Great Salt Lake and the potential for sustained coexistence between the lake and man. The project will include meeting federal wetlands permitting requirements, building a trail system around the center, and adding interpretive signs that address minerals, human activities, brine shrimp and other topics related to the Great Salt Lake.
