Salt Lake City, Utah - October 24, 2007 The EnergySolutions Foundation launched their scholarship program for the second year. The program is designed for students pursuing education in the fields of math, science and engineering. This merit-based scholarship program will recognize a 10th grade student at all Utah high schools and will be based on excellence in academics.

Students selected for the scholarship will receive $2,000 toward a bachelor's degree program in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Ecology, Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Mathematics, Meteorology, and Physics. The funds will be released the accredited university or junior college where the student enrolls as a freshman. In addition, three Distinguished Award scholarships of $25,000, $5,000 and $2,500 will be presented. Distinguished award recipients will receive a new laptop upon entering their graduate program.

"The EnergySolutions Foundation Scholarship Program is an extension of our commitment to this great community where EnergySolutions employees live and work," said Steve Creamer, CEO of EnergySolutions and member of the EnergySolutions Foundation Board of Directors. "In order for America to maintain its competitive edge and compete in the world marketplace, it is absolutely critical that we encourage our best students to pursue a scientific course in education. The purpose of these scholarships is to increase the quality and quantity of students entering science, math and engineering programs."

This program is being offered in areas of the country where EnergySolutions has major operations, including Utah, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Washington, Ohio, and Idaho.

A prestigious selection committee will determine the scholarship recipients. The selection committees will be comprised of professionals in the areas of science, math, engineering, and from academia. They will evaluate each application for academic achievement and community involvement, and will weigh any special circumstances cited by the school.
