Environmental Clean Up
The following guidelines have been developed to assist organizations applying for grant funding after they have been invited by the EnergySolutions Foundation to submit a proposal:
- Grants from the EnergySolutions Foundation are awarded to organizations that have environmental clean up projects in Utah.
- Preference will be given for clean up projects. Environmental education and research is not a funding priority.
- Contributions are limited to charitable organizations operating in Utah.
- Preference will be given to projects with tangible, long lasting results that have a large scale impact on the environment.
- Only recipients that are exempt from federal taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, government or tribal entity are eligible. Private foundations are not eligible.
- Only one request annually per organization will be given consideration.
- Award of a grant does not necessarily indicate future support and past support does not preclude an organization from being invited again to submit a proposal.
- The foundation does not grant money to individuals or organizations that in turn make grants to others.
- The foundation grants requests up to $200,000.
- Only one request annually will be considered.
The Foundation's funding is based on the belief that nonprofit organizations providing the greatest impact share certain core values. In order to maximize the impact of its community investments, The EnergySolutions Foundation looks for the following:
- An opportunity to leverage additional funding from other sources.
- An exceptional opportunity to improve the environment in a significant way.
- A program that is evaluated and measured by its success in achieving results-based outcomes.
- Strong leadership with committed supporters.
The Foundation receives more worthwhile requests that it can fund. Awards, therefore, can be made to a relatively small percentage of the many meritorious proposals considered.
